Homsher Vern E, 56, ended his life yesterday by hanging. Funeral will be Thursday at the residence near Mt. Pleasant. Burial, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. He had been in ill health for some time, suffering from apoplexy. Coroner Hutchins was told that he had made one threat to end his life. Apparently Homsher was in usual spirits yesterday. After eating dinner with his wife, he left the room and was absent 15 minutes before Mrs. Homsher began a search for him. His lifeless form was found hanging from a rafter in the implement shed. Using a chair and a crate to raise himself from the floor, Homsher jumped from the crate. He was born in Orange Twp December 6, 1881, the son of Samuel and Harriet Homsher. The family then moved to Jefferson Twp and shortly following, moved to this city when the decedent was 20 years of age. Samuel Homsher became employed as janitor of the Kendallville public schools. He resided in this city for a year and then moved to his late home near Mt. Pleasant. In 1904 he married Martha Black, Jefferson Twp, the couple engaging in farming at the present home. He was actively associated with the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Lutheran Church and took a marked interest in church work. Since stricken with apoplexy last summer, he had been despondent. Surviving relatives include the widow and two brothers, Samuel and Albert Homsher of Michigan. * 1-?-1937
